You feel this dog will always be there, loyal and loving, through the boy's growing years—first loose tooth, first day of school, first home run. The boy has already discovered the one best thing about man's best friend, that a dog will soak up all the love you show it and wait for more. Donald Zolan says, "I had a dog like this when I was a kid. He'd go everywhere with me, running through fields and jumping creeks. He was never more than a few feet away. Even when I'd climb a tree he'd sit and wait patiently for me to come down."
